You will master concepts and skills from the Foundation Seminar® at a higher level of understanding and skill through rich practice and feedback experiences. You will learn a new map, the Calibrating Conversation for use with a set of standards for performance. Knowledge of the States of Mind and how to mediate for them will be emphasized. Your capacity to coach for cognitive shift will be enhanced.
The experiences of this week will support any school leader in the coaching and supervision of teachers as well as developing skills which are applicable in the classroom and in one’s personal life.
Prerequisite: Completion of Cognitive Coaching Foundation Seminar

Who Should Attend:
Satisfactory completion requirements:
- Attendance is based on your signature in and out of the session. Failure to provide a signature in and out will result in no credit. Virtual attendance is taken via the Zoom Chat.
- Participants are expected to attend the entire session to earn credit.
- Participants are expected to attend all sessions in their entirety (Part 1 - Part 6) to earn credit.
- Participants must complete an electronic course evaluation within two weeks of the session completion date to be sent a certificate.

Cost Information: Participation fees are waived for TrueNorth employees, TrueNorth member district employees, and parents of students in our TrueNorth member districts. For individual participants who do not meet the above criteria, this course participation fee is $250 per day plus a martial fee of $50 for the resource book (total of $1550 for all six sessions). Participation or material fees will be billed directly to the school district that employs the participant after the session is complete or the first session in a series is complete. Individuals are asked to not bring payment to the session.
Cancellation and Refund Information: There is no cancellation fee, though we ask for advance notice to open the spot for another person. TrueNorth reserves the right to cancel any session due to low enrollment. TrueNorth does not charge prior to the start of the offered session. If an individual attends the first day of a learning series but is unable to attend the remaining sessions, the school district that employs the participant is able to designate an alternate person. It is up to the individual no longer attending the program to give their replacement the information learned in the first session.
About the Presenters:
Jane Ellison has been an integral part of the Cognitive Coaching community since 1989. Entrusted with the leadership and perpetuation of the work by Art Costa and Bob Garmston, she has served as the Executive Co-Director of Thinking Collaborative with Michael Dolcemascolo and the Co-Director of the Center for Cognitive Coaching with Carolee Hayes.
Jane is a former elementary teacher, principal and director, whose experiences include teaching graduate classes in South America, attending the Principals' Institutes at Columbia Teachers' College and Harvard University, and chairing the Board of Directors of the Principal's Center at the University of Colorado, Denver. She is co-author of Cognitive Coaching: Weaving Threads of Learning and Change into the Culture of an Organization; Effective School Leadership: Developing Principals with Cognitive Coaching; and a contributing author to the 3rd Edition of Cognitive Coaching: Developing Self-Directed Leaders and Learners.
Jane holds a B.A. in Elementary Education and Social Sciences from SMU, an M.Ed. in Elementary Supervision from the University of North Texas, and an Ed.D. in Administration from VPI&SU , Blacksburg, Virginia.
